EastEnders Karen exit sealed as devastating café fire leaves several injured

EastEnders fans have been speculating about an impending sombre turn for Karen Taylor's fate in the upcoming weeks with a prevailing theory that she might meet a tragic demise through a fire-related incident.

Earlier this year, news emerged that the popular character, portrayed by actress Lorraine Stanley, was set to exit the BBC soap after six years

As a result, EastEnders fans were left gutted by the news of Lorraine’s departure from the role.

Moreover, many viewers have been harbouring concerns that her character could meet a fatal end.

Recent news of a startling inferno wreaking havoc in Walford has triggered widespread apprehension for Karen's fate.

Reports have suggested that Kathy's café has been set to be engulfed in flames this October, although specific particulars regarding the fire are yet to be verified.

The fate of those involved in the fire remains uncertain, as reports do not confirm any casualties, though several characters are believed to be in jeopardy.

More hints have also emerged suggesting the possibility of the fire being intentional, giving rise to numerous unanswered questions in the aftermath.

Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), EastEnders fans exchanged their dark hypothesis that Karen's fate might occur by either becoming ensnared in the blaze or while attempting to rescue her daughter Bernie Taylor, employed at the café.

“Just finding out that the fire is at the Cafe,” a viewer wrote on X.

They continued: “That means that there is a possibility that Karen could die in the fire as we know she’s leaving in October.

“Very bold move to kill her off if that’s the case as I thought Karen would get an open exit.”

An EastEnders fan commented: “So given everything we know, Karen gets seriously injured or dies in the fire.”

A separate individual wrote: “I fear this is the end for Karen and possibly Bernie.”

“I do think Karen is going to die, as frustrating as a character she is, she is genuinely part of Walford’s fabric, so I can’t see her leaving willingly,” another viewer commented.

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday on BBC One and BBC iPlayer at 7.30pm
