EastEnders star Kellie Bright reveals her three-month old baby Gene needed to spend time on a ventilator after being struck down with bronchiolitis

EASTENDERS star Kellie Bright has revealed her three-month old baby Gene had to be hooked up to a ventilator after being struck down with a bought of bronchiolitis.

The soap star and her husband Paul Stocker, 33, welcomed their second child on November 21.

Speaking to OK! magazine about being a new mum again, Kellie said: "It's such a cliche but it really is a love like nothing else".

However, they had a little scare recently when Gene had to remain in hospital for three days and be hooked up to a ventilator after he contracted bronchiolitis, a respiratory tract infection that affects babies and young children under two years old.

She explained; "He had a nasty cough but the doctor assured me he'd be fine. Then suddenly he went downhill so we rushed him to hospital.

"He had to spend a few nights in hospital on oxygen but he's home now and on the road to recovery."

The 40-year-old actress, who plays Linda Carter on the BBC soap, was worried how her five-year-old son Freddy would react to being a big brother but she said he dotes over baby Gene.

While it's only been a few months since her latest arrival, Kellie admitted she's already thinking about having baby number three.

She said: "I said right away in the delivery room that I want another baby. I don't feel ready to shut the door on motherhood just yet."

After announcing her pregnancy late last year, Kellie revealed she struggled to get pregnant the second time around.

She also revealed that they had been trying for more than a year: "I was very aware that I wasn't getting any younger.

"We feel very lucky that we're having another baby."

The actress met Paul nine years ago when he was just 24 and she was 31. They married in 2014 but split up for two months before their wedding.

But she claimed that she realised she'd made a serious mistake and the couple decided to travel and move in together before making it official.

Kellie admitted: "After a bit of head space I realised I was cutting off my nose to spite my face. I thought, 'What am I doing? Take your foot off the gas.'"
