It was a rollercoaster of emotions last week on Emmerdale for Bob Hope (played by Tony Audenshaw) and Wendy Posner (Susan Cookson) after a misunderstanding saw them push one another away, before finally talking honestly about their feelings and deciding to give their relationship a go. But, it seems there is a chance their romance won’t last long after the actor who plays Bob spoke exclusively to express.co.uk about one thing his character and Wendy’s lacks. Is their relationship going to be over before it even started?
Bob expressed interest in Wendy many months ago, but in the midst of dealing with Lee Posner’s (Kris Mochrie) death and her moving to the village with Luke Posner (Max Parker), the nurse shut Bob down.
Despite the rejection, Bob did everything he could to be a friend to Wendy during the turbulent time.
In recent scenes however, Wendy revealed she had feelings for the Woolpack barman and confided in Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker).
The doctor conjured up a way for Wendy to express how she felt to Bob by suggesting she write him a letter.
But at the last minute, she panicked when it came to giving it to him.

Instead, Manpreet offered to send Bob the letter alongside the other medical check-up correspondence she had to post.
Despite the best of intentions, a big mix-up occurred and Bob never received the letter.
It was Manpreet’s husband, Rishi Sharma (Bhasker Patel) who opened and then proceeded to read Wendy’s expression of interest and he then pulled Bob aside during the Woolpack quiz to tell him about it.
Understandably confused, Bob became angry and when Wendy tried to speak to him he was rather nasty in his response.
Express.co.uk spoke to the actor who plays Bob about this exchange and what’s to come for the new couple.
So why did Bob react to Wendy in such way when she tried to discuss the letter?
Tony said: “[Bob] was hurt, I think for one. The fact that he obviously his affections have grown towards Wendy as he’s got to know her. And he’s felt it’s like a natural, slow burner, if you like.
“He cannot believe that she’s been so brazen that she’s been after a married man because he thinks that she’s after Rishi.
“And he knows that basically his affair [with Laurel] destroyed his life practically. When he went off with Laurel, you know, he ruined his life. He became homeless, all sorts happened.
“He can’t believe that she’s [Wendy] got feelings for Rishi and she’s been so brave and she telling him about it. And she seems oblivious to the fact that she’s doing anything wrong.

“He’s not just judging her, he’s judging himself thinking, ‘How could I have missed it? How could I have got this so wrong?’” Tony added.
Nevertheless, the whole misunderstanding is eventually cleared up and Bob and Wendy decide to make a go of things.
But with Wendy’s difficult past, and little known about her ex-husband – who has been mentioned previously – will Wendy and Bob sit down and have a heart-to-heart about their whole relationship history?
Tony said: “I would hope so. I think neither of them are great at talking about things. And I think that that’s referenced.
“Bob, has been very supportive towards her when she was victimised by Aaron, and he’s not judged her in any respect with what happened with her son, with Lee.

“They’ve [also] both lost a child in whatever circumstances and in very different circumstance, but they’ve both lost a child and not had the opportunity to say goodbye to them.
“I think they formed a bit of a bond when they had a conversation a couple of months ago about that. And so they can talk to each other,” Tony continued.
“I think it’s gonna be interesting to see what develops and we know nothing about her ex-partner, or why she’s been so resistant about getting into a new relationship.
“That might be interesting to find out and I think she knows that he’s been married before, but I don’t know if she knows quite how many times and quite how many kids he’s got!”
With the two of them not great communicators, and with Wendy so reluctant to open up about her past, will it all get too much for her?
Emmerdale airs Monday and Wednesday 7pm on ITV.
