VICTORIA Sugden will have a huge struggle with her conscience in Emmerdale next week as she tries to decide whether or not to support her brother Robert who is facing court for attacking her rapist, Lee Posner.
An irritable Robert reads through his case and remains unconvinced it will go well despite husband Aaron Dingle trying to reassure him over his plea hearing.
Later, as Robert meets with his solicitor, he’s stunned when he’s advised to plead guilty and he makes it clear there is absolutely no way he’ll do this.
Elsewhere, Victoria – Isabel Hodgins – is having a silent battle with her conscience as she knows Robert didn’t actually attack Lee in self-defence.
Robert is determined that Vic’s testimony will swing the case for him, but Marlon Dingle is left lost for words when an emotional Victoria confesses she lied to the police.
With her mind in turmoil, she worries that lying in court will make her no better than her rapist.
But how will Robert react if Victoria tells him she can’t testify in court?
Later in the week Robert’s friends and family steel themselves as they arrive in court.
Emmerdale fans have already predicted that Robert will go on the run rather than face a life stretch in prison after his attack on vile Lee.
The businessman – who is played by actor Ryan Hawley in the ITV soap – hit Lee over the head with a shovel from behind after he threatened to rape another woman after getting £20,000 out of victim Victoria.
He taunted Robert after getting a £10,000 down payment so he would convince his mother that the baby wasn't his and she wouldn't contact Victoria again.
Lee leered: "Sometimes no doesn't mean, does it? It just adds to it. I mean, is it really rape when they love it as much as your sister did? And I even gave her a nice souvenir to remember me by. Bye Uncle Robert."
Following him Robert attacked Lee for his comments and the pair had a scrap and a blistering row.
Lee then said: "Come on, your sister fought harder than this."
But after threatening to rape again, Robert saw red with Lee, picked up a shovel and knocked him out.
Victoria shouted to her brother after seeing him hit Lee, and the pair stood alone until Diane arrived and they tried to decide what to do.
Unfortunately Rishi Sharma then arrived with the village's Murder Mystery day in full swing and thought Lee was just playing a corpse.
He screamed for everyone to come and examine the corpse as it then dawned on people that bleeding Lee wasn't just playing dead.
An ambulance was called and Aaron caught the tail end of what had happened and told Robert that his only chance was to claim Lee attacked him first.
But viewers spotted a pretty big problem with Aaron's plan to get Robert out of trouble by pleading self-defence – he hit Lee in the back of the head with a shovel as Lee was leaving.
This means that regardless of whether Lee wakes up – Robert is most likely going to prison for assault at the very least.
One wrote: "Prison for Robert then ?Can't say I blame him for that though!#emmerdale"
A second said: "So Robert's going to prison…right?"
Another added: "So Robert is going to leave by either going on the run (like Andy) or he’ll go to prison for the death of Lee… #Emmerdale"
