Emmerdale's Adam Thomas has broken his silence on claims he is the first celebrity to sign up for this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.
The actor, 33, was said to be in talks with BBC bosses to star in the latest instalment of the ballroom dancing show which will air in autumn this year.
But Adam has dismissed the claim as untrue in a post on his Instagram stories where he shared a screengrab of an article about the rumours.
He said: "As much as I'd love this to be true unfortunately it's not," alongside a laughing face emoji.
A source previously told The Sun: “Adam has got what it takes to win and is already practising his moves. And he’s got a big female fanbase.
“This has been a little while in the making but it’s happening this year.”
The Adam Barton actor, who left the soap in 2018, came third in the 2016 run of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, and later hosted its spin-off, Extra Show.
Adam announced this year that he will be starring in the BBC One reboot of Waterloo Road as the dad of his real-life niece Scarlett Thomas.
The actor will be reprising his role as Donte Charles, while Scarlett will be portray the child of him and his on-screen wife Chlo Charles.
Strictly bosses are also alleged to have been looking to sign Adam’s older brother Ryan, who played Jason Grimshaw in Coronation Street.
TV chef Gino D’Acampo is another celebrity rumoured to join the BBC show.
Bosses are said to believe he’s "up for a laugh and more than capable of keeping audiences entertained".
Also tipped to appear on the show is Former Blue Peter presenter Helen Skelton.
Emmerdale's Kelvin Fletcher won the series alongside professional Oti Mabuse, 31, in 2019.
