Emmerdale star Samantha Giles has revealed the dream storyline she wishes she had on the ITV soap.
The actress, 52, has been a staple on the long-running show for over two decades – making her debut back in 1998. Playing Bernice Blackstock, she’s become a firm favourite with viewers.
And it’s fair to say Bernice has been involved in many storylines centered around her failed romances. However this year, it was confirmed that Samantha was leaving the ITV soap.

And in the famous Dales this week, viewers will finally say goodbye to the beloved character. But it turns out there’s still one major storyline that’s gutted her character never got.
Speaking ahead of her exit, Samantha opened up about the relationship between Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw) and Bernice. As fans will recall Bernice teamed up with Bob to take over a new B&B.
The show even briefly teased a relationship between the pair – much to the delight of fans. However, despite attempting to kiss Bob, Bernice was left rejected when he chose to stay loyal to his partner Wendy Posner (Susan Cookson).
Now, it turns out Samantha was rather keen for a romance to blossom between the pair. When quizzed if she felt sad to no longer be working with Tony Audenshaw, she said: “Very much so!”
She went on: “A huge part of me wanted Bob and Bernice to get together as I think they could have made a great long-lasting team, but perhaps the appeal of Bernice is that she is ultimately lonely and unable to find a life partner, as many people are."
Samantha also noted how she thinks Bernice “fell in love with Bob.” She explained: “But she was desperate to try to do the right thing, and for once she did!"

She added: “From a working POV I've loved working with Tony and Sue Cookson who plays Wendy. We've had many many laughs – probably too many – and I will miss that."
Speaking on the This Morning sofa in October, Samantha said: "I haven't been able to kind of confirm it, really, until now. I am going. I think my last episode is 14th November, the final episode. Her departure will be the fourth time she's quit the Dales since she started playing Bernice in 1998
A source told The Sun: "Bernice Blackstock has been in and out of Emmerdale village more than they change the barrels at The Woolpack She’s always welcomed back with open arms by ITV and fans alike, but it’s now becoming a bit of a running joke. It wouldn’t pay to bet on whether Samantha will one day be back, but for now she will leave the soap later this year."
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
