Emmerdales Meenas fate exposed in Liam affair bombshell and Rhona struggles

It's set to be another heated week in Emmerdale as tension begins to mount for several residents in the not-so-quiet village

Emmerdale spoilers have revealed that Meena Jutla's trial is finally underway and she is now able to take the stand and share her side of the story.

But as the trial unravels, Liam Cavanagh is caught in the crossfire when an alleged affair is exposed in front of the entire court.

Meanwhile, a nervous Manpreet Sharma prepares to shame her sister as she takes the stand to shed light on who the murderer really is.

Elsewhere, Rhona is still struggling with juggling family life and looking after her fiance Marlon Dingle in hospital.

Meena's fate exposed and Liam affair shock

The whole of the village is on tenterhooks as Meena's trial finally commences.

And tensions begin to rise when Meena enters the courtroom and appears to relish the spotlight.

Liam is finally ready to take to the stand to testify but is thrown off-guard when he sees Meena’s faux-meekness.

As he begins to talk of the destruction Meena left, the jury appears sympathetic to Liam’s devastation as he fights tears on the stand.

However, as the defence begins their onslaught of accusations, Liam is gobsmacked when he’s accused of conducting an affair with nurse Meena.

Frustrated by her feigned vulnerability, Liam’s anger gets the better of him and he lashes out at Meena in front of the entire court.

Later on, Liam begins to worry his outburst may have lost him the support of the jury.

The following day, although she is apprehensive about what lies ahead, Manpreet’s resolute in her determination to destroy her sister in court.

Back at the prison, prison officer Ian’s emotions are conflicted when against his better instincts, he finds himself flirting with twisted Meena.

Once in court, Manpreet tries to ensure that she doesn't allow Meena’s performance to rattle her as she takes the stand to testify against her sister.

But as expected, it’s a tough ordeal as the defence delves deep into Manpreet’s past and attempts to portray her as a seasoned liar and Manpreet is infuriated when she sees her gloating sister relishing the spectacle.

Later, Meena’s high spirits become dampened when she’s advised to not take the stand.

As she is desperate to to be in the limelight, Meena rejects this advice and excitedly prepares for the trial the next day and continues to rehearse her lines in her cell.

Now that she has her chance, Meena is utterly convincing as she takes the stand in court, playing the role of a suffered victim. She delivers her performance impeccably well to an enthralled jury.

Later on, the court is consumed in agonising tension as they await the upcoming verdict.

But by the next day, the shocking events of yesterday’s trial hit the morning news.

Rhona struggles

It’s Rhona’s birthday and April wants to ensure she makes it a special day.

On her quest to lift Rhona's spirits, April successfully pulls off a surprise birthday party for her in the Woolpack.

Despite this, Rhona is aware she had promised to visit Marlon, so Chas volunteers Cain to take her place so she can enjoy the party for the sake of April.

But after a while, it becomes clear that Rhona is eager to see Marlon in hospital.

When April pleads to come with her, feeling guilty, Rhona lies to April but privately resolves to fight her case with her dad.

Meanwhile, in the hospital, Marlon feels at fault when Rhona tells him how much his daughter April misses visiting him in the hospital and tries to convince him to change his mind.

The following day April finally visits her dad and her sense of humour appears to relax Marlon. Seeing the two of them communicate, Rhona is moved to tears to see how maturely April deals with Marlon’s vulnerability.

Once again, Mary scolds her daughter for doing too much but Rhona ignores her mum and sets her sights on getting Marlon home.

But Mary thinks Rhona’s delusional to think that Marlon will be able to come home anytime soon.

Over in the hospital, nurse Gail uses tough love to encourage Marlon to use his words rather than noises.

Marlon is thrilled as he utters a complete sentence for the first time since he had his stroke last month.

The next day Paddy notices Rhona is beginning to struggle with being a mum while also visiting Marlon in hospital.

Paddy decides to visit Marlon and on his return, Rhona explains her plans to get him home soon and is excited to hear Paddy’s also got a plan up his sleeve to raise Marlon’s spirits.
