Euphoria season 2 episode 7 recap: Lexi Howard's play sparks outrage

As we’re near the end, we already know the last two episodes of Euphoria will be the biggest yet.

So far Rue Bennett (Zendaya) has come full circle and is now trying to focus on her recovery.

Cassie Howard and Maddy Perez are still not speaking after it emerged that Cassie was seeing Maddy’s ex Nate Jacobs (Jacob Elordi) behind her back, while Kat Herenandaz(Barbie Ferreira) and Ethan Daly’s (Austin Abrams) relationship came to an abrupt end.

But tonight is all about Lexi Howard (Maude Apatow) as she directed and starred in her first play based on her peers and friends, and as we predicted…..it didn’t end well.

Here’s everything that went down in The Theater and It’s Double.

Lexi and Fezco get close

Lexi and Fezco (Angus Cloud) have been tugging at our heart strings since the first episode, and we’ve been waiting for much of the season to see what will become of this unexpected pairing.

As the date of her school play came closer, Lexi started to feel the pressure and turned to Fez for some words of comfort. After a heart to heart, he promised that he would be sitting in the front row cheering her on, which put a smile on her face.

Elsewhere a surprise guest turned up at his house and started a conversation with Faye (Chloe Cherry) who has been staying with the family.

Fez’s protective and sometimes unpredictable little brother had his eye on the guests, and as Ashtray sat right by him, a nervous Fezco watched him from a distance.

We’re not sure what Ashtray did next, but given his track record, it probably wouldn’t include much conversation.

Ashtray’s actions might throw a spanner in the works for Fezco and Lexi, but we’ll have to wait and see what damage was done in episode eight.

Lexi’s play gets a mixed reception

Lexi’s play finally made its debut and, of course, it’s Euphoria, meaning this particular play didn’t go down the PG route.

After a sexually charged dance routine, she introduced the stars of the show. But cheery faces turned into pure disgust as the characters in question had striking similarities to her friends Cassie, Maddy, Rue, Nate and Jules Vaughn (Hunter Schafer).

Things turned dark pretty quickly after Jacob’s portrayal in the play hit too close to home, as Lexi’s dialogue suggested that he is repressing his sexuality.

The ball dropped when Cassie and Nate’s love affair inspired its own scene in the theatre adaptation.

‘Wait is this play f**king about us,’ an upset Maddie yelled.

The episode concluded with Cassie walking down the school hallway with all eyes on her.

Fans have been sharing their theories over what surprise awaits in the season finale, and the majority believe a beloved character won’t be making it to season three.

The season finale of Euphoria airs February 28 on Sky Atlantic and NOW
