Ex Strictly judge Darcey Bussell refuses to watch the show as she awkwardly avoids questions about it on Good Morning Britain

EX Strictly judge Darcey Bussell refuses to watch the show and awkwardly avoided questions about it on today's Good Morning Britain.

The 50-year-old quit the BBC One dance show earlier this year after seven years on the judging panel.

She has been replaced by Motsi Mabuse, but when asked if she had watched the first live show on Saturday night by GMB host Susanna Reid, Darcey admitted she hadn't.

She said via video-link: "No, I've been too busy doing National Fitness Day."

Darcey, who was chatting from one of her DD Mix classes, immediately turned things back to dance, fitness and keeping people healthy and active regardless of ability.

But keen to get a conversation about Strictly started, Piers Morgan piped up: "So you haven't noticed then that Strictly's ratings have collapsed since you left?"

However, Darcey was having none of it and immediately shut him down saying: "I'm not here Piers to talk about Strictly I'm here to talk about National Fitness Day."

Firmly put in his place, Piers replied: "You know what, you've rallied me Dame Darcey,  I'll be out there today doing my 10 minutes of power walking.

"I got it, don't mention Strictly."

Darcey announced her decision not to return for the 2019 series of Strictly in April, revealing in a statement she was leaving to "give more focus to my many other commitments in dance" and not "because of any upset or disagreement at all."

In the lengthy post, she said: "It has been a complete privilege for me to be part of Strictly, working with such a talented team.

"I have enjoyed every minute of my time and will miss everyone from my fellow judges, the presenters, the dancers, the musicians, the entire backstage team, and especially the viewers of the show, who have been so supportive.

"I am not leaving because of any upset or disagreement at all, I am just stepping away to give more focus to my many other commitments in dance, after seven truly wonderful years that I can’t imagine having gone any better.

"I know I will miss being part of this unique show and the fact that it celebrates dance is something I am so passionate about. I hope that I may be very lucky to be asked back again one day."
