Fans convinced they know who Masked Singer’s Chameleon is as Queen Bee’s rumbled

Last night saw Twitter light up as viewers scrabbled to guess the identities of six celebrities on new ITV show The Masked Singer.

EastEnders legend Patsy Palmer was the first of the bunch to reveal herself after she came last in the talent show and was forced to take off her ornate Butterfly costume.

Five other famous faces did their best to disguise themselves – but fans are already sure they've rumbled the person in the Queen Bee costume as Charlotte Church.

Now viewers have moved on to the four others – and many are convinced the Chameleon is none other than Declan Donnelly of Ant and Dec fame.

  • The Masked Singer viewers 'distracted' by mystery celebrity's 'huge bulge'

  • The Masked Singer viewers 'rumble' Queen Bee's identity within minutes

The Chameleon – who strutted around the stage with an eye-catching bulge – sang Creep by Radiohead as his first song, and had a distinctly Geordie twang to his performance.

Other clues given by the mystery celeb also seem to hint at Dec being the face behind the mask, including his having "many talents" and a background as "a dazzling urban act".

Whoever it is "once provided the voice of a children’s cartoon character" the character teased.

  • First celebrity of The Masked Singer confirmed as EastEnders legend

Fans took to Twitter with their best guesses, with one writing: "I have an exam tomorrow and need to be revising but what am I doing, rewatching #TheMaskedSinger to convince myself that the chameleon is Dec from Ant and Dec and the hedgehog is Rob Brydon."

Another said: "Those of you who watched #TheMaskedSinger last night, who thinks the chameleon is Dec? I’m still convinced that it could be, the voice sounded like him at times and the clue was he voiced a cartoon character and obviously Dec voiced Engie Benjy."

  • Masked Singer slammed by viewers as 'worst thing they've ever seen on TV'

And third laughed: "Watching the masked singer and literally thought the chameleon was dec @antanddec for a sec they said many backgrounds but one thing more than another (presenter) and it lowkey looks and sounds like dec HELPPPP."

But if it really is Dec behind the mask, he's doing a ruddy good job of covering his own tracks, as he tweeted about the "bats**t" show last night.

"Well #MaskedSinger was bats**t nuts but I have to say I really enjoyed it!" he tweeted.

"Like nothing else on telly. Great job @joeldommett , @ThisisDavina , @RitaOra , @wossy & @kenjeong . D."

Hmm!
