'Friends': Ross Geller's Least Liked Romantic Partner

Friendsfans mostly seem to agree, Ross Geller was the absolute worst friend. Ross, over the course of the series, went from a mildly annoying, although loveable guyto anabsolute jerk. During the series, Ross was stubborn, refused to admit hisfaults, and, frankly, was kind of sexist. There are very few people who regularlyappeared on the show that fans dislike more than Ross, but one of those lessliked characters actually married Ross.

Ross rebounded quickly from Rachel Green with Emily Waltham

Ross may have been a highly controversial character, but hissecond wife, Emily Waltham, was even more controversial. The hatred fans feeltoward Ross, at least in later seasons, extends to Emily. Some fans dislikeEmily simply because Ross was prepared to marry her over Rachel, while otherspoint to her behavior after her wedding vows as the reason that she washorrible.

According to ScreenRant, some fans feel as though Emily never actually reciprocated Ross’ feelings inthe first place. That doesn’t seem to be true, though. Emily was ready to marryRoss, despite having an entire life back in London, so she must have feltstrongly about him. Ross seems to be the one who didn’t have the feelings needto necessitate walking down the aisle.

Emily got incredibly possessive and kind of crazy

Fans were initially OK with Emily as a character, although genuineRoss and Rachel fans hated her from the second Ross woke up in Vermont withher. Things went south when she got incredibly possessive over Ross and triedto keep him away from his friends.

After Ross said Rachel’s name at the altar, Emily agreed togive their marriage a try, but under one condition. She wanted Ross to stayaway from Rachel, as in, he was never allowed to see her again. Ross originallyagreed to the request, but when you think about it, it would have been a nearlyimpossible promise to keep. Rachel, after all, lived with Ross’ sister. Most fans think Emily was trying tokeep Ross away from all of his friends, including his sister. That does seemlike too much of a sacrifice.

To be fair, Emily did have good reason to be jealous

If we are being fair, Emily had a reason to get a littlejealous. The relationship moved incredibly quickly, and while Ross’ proposalwas an attempt to get Emily to move to New York, it was pretty evident that hestill had feelings for Rachel. Still, Emily moved forward with the wedding, only to be humiliated at the altar.

To make matters worse, she had to watch Ross’ almost head totheir honeymoon with Rachel. Sure, her request that he never speak to Rachelagain suggested she was taking things a bit far, but if you think about it fromEmily’s perspective, it wasn’t all that unreasonable. It isn’t as if Rachel wasa long-ago ex-girlfriend that Ross never thought about. Obviously, his feelingsran deep. Emily, however, would have been better served just walking away fromRoss and hisincredibly messy romantic life.
