Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke breaks down over Daenerys Targaryen admission

Every Game of Thrones fan has a favourite character. Daenerys Targaryen (played by Emilia Clarke) was arguably one of the most popular characters in the show as she rose from nothing into a behemoth of power, who ended up taking over Westeros. So then, it was a tragic day when her lover, Jon Snow (Kit Harington), decided to kill her.

Jon’s decision followed Daenerys’ attack on King’s Landing after the city had already surrendered.

Her brutal destruction of King’s Landing resulted in countless deaths and endless bloodshed.

Although many viewers were a little upset about how Daenerys had conducted herself, they were also sad to see her being killed off.

A new clip of Daenerys star Emilia Clarke was recently posted online, which features on the show’s box set special features.

During this clip, Emilia is visibly emotional about leaving the character of Daenerys behind.

Speaking to the camera, Emilia’s voice cracked as she said: “I realised the other day the show has given me more than just a job – it has literally given me a family.

“It’s given me an identity that I didn’t have, and I didn’t ever think I would be able to play someone like this.”

Going on to praise her character, she explained: “And so she’s been such a saviour for me in so many ways.”

Emilia then moved on to praising her bosses, and Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff, and Daniel Weiss.

She continued: “I literally have David and Dan to thank for hiring me.

“I have the most hard working crew – I keep saying it but I mean it so much – they literally work harder than anyone.

“And the fans have, like, you know, they’ve given me a platform and hope.
