Game of Thrones star looks worlds away from Westeros after glam transformation for Netflix's Addams Family spin-off | The Sun

GAME of Thrones star Gwendoline Christie has undergone a rather glam transformation for Netflix's Addams Family spin-off series.

Produced by Tim Burton, the eight-episode series is a coming-of-age story focusing on a teenager Wednesday Addams – and the show features a star-studded cast.

Portrayed by You and Jane The Virgin actress Jenna Ortega, Wednesday enrols as a student at the Nevermore Academy while grappling with a supernatural ability.

As seen in the series' two-minute teaser trailer, Game of Thrones legend Gwendoline looks unrecognisable as she sports a polished look.

The actress, best known for playing Brienne of Tarth on the HBO fantasy series, will play Larissa Weems, the principal of the academy attended by Wednesday.

And Gwendoline's character still holds a grudge against her former classmate and Wednesday's mother, Morticia Addams.

The iconic character played by Anjelica Huston in the movies directed by Barry Sonnenfeld will be portrayed by Catherine Zeta-Jones.

Luis Guzmán will star as her husband Gomez, while relative newcomers Isaac Ordonez, Victor Dorobantu and George Burcea will feature in the roles of Pugsley, Thing and Lurch respectively.

As well as the aforementioned stars, the show will include original Addams Family star Christina Ricci – who famously played Wednesday in two movies in the early 1990s – in a yet-to-be-announced role.

Ricci recently said: "I just finished it two weeks ago, and it was great. It was great working with Tim, and Jenna is amazing. I think people are going to absolutely love her as Wednesday."

Unfortunately at the moment, Wednesday does not yet have an official release date.

However, the good news is that it will be premiering in the fourth quarter of 2022, meaning hopefully, Wednesday could be released just in time for Halloween.

There will be eight episodes in total for viewers and fans of the original to enjoy.
