Gemma Collins: From meme queen to coronavirus lockdown icon – The Sun

HER iconic diva meltdowns have made her meme royalty, and now Gemma Collins is on a one woman mission to get the nation through the coronavirus lockdown with a smile.

Fans around the country have made hilarious videos channelling the sassy star's best moments from her Celebrity Big Brother meltdowns to her I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! nightmare – they are all there.

The GC might have spectacularly crumbled in previous periods of confinement, but rest assured this time she has her heated hair rollers and there'll be no 'kimodo dragons'.

And Gemma is loving being a lockdown sensation, with her sharing the best memes on Instagram and admitting they're giving her a giggle.

Here's how the GC's best bits are keeping the country positive.

We will get through it

Cabin fever might be setting in, but if the GC can get through a lock in with Scotty T, Tiffany Pollard and an explosive Megan McKenna – you can do it with your family.

If ever there was a GC phrase to help us in this current difficult situation, it's this: "This is torture, but we are gonna get through this."

Jungle Diva

She might not have been queen of the jungle, but Gemma still holds the crown for the fastest jungle exit.

Her screams of terror and tears in the Aussie wilderness are being mimicked by fans creeping around their gardens pretending to be their idol.

Sit back and relax

Sometimes the pressure to keep up with the Joneses in this new housebound age can prove stressful. Intense home workouts and carefully planned homeschooling sessions are being plastered all over social media.

For anyone struggling, take heed of Gemma's immortal words: "And this is what I'm doing. I'm not getting involved.

"I'm here to enjoy myself GC style. D'ya know what I mean? I just want to be me."

Taking away the takeaways

McDonald's has temporarily shut-up shop, along with a whole raft of other favourite fast food chains.

Waistlines might be thankful, but that satisfying feeling of a tasty burger and chips will be sorely missed.

Well, the GC unknowingly had some words of wisdom for that too.

Almost prophetically, she said: "I'll be alright. I suppose this is normal that's the thing."

Brave loo world

The GC often speaks about her spiritual beliefs, and it looks like she had a touch of clairvoyancy in 2013.

Talking to Sam Faiers in an episode of Towie, the GC foresaw a time when toilet paper would be at a premium.

She said: "There might be a day when Joey runs out of toilet roll and needs the toilet roll from ya love."

Not bothered

Lockdown is going to give us plenty of time to assess our lives and who we should give our time to.

Never one to hold back, Gemma led by example in the CBB house when she swiftly slammed the phone down on poor Chris Maloney during a challenge.

Matter of factly, she told her housemates: "Not bothered, sorry. In the nicest possible way, it ain't important."

A lesson to be learned for anyone keeping a relationship going for the sake of it.
