Gemma Collins reveals secret support for Tilly Ramsay after she's cruelly called 'chubby' by radio host

GEMMA Collins has revealed she's been supporting Tilly Ramsay in private, after the Strictly Come Dancing star was body-shamed by a radio host.

After Tilly, 19, was branded 'chubby' by LBC Radio presenter Steve Allen, Gemma, 40, reached out to her publicly, revealing on Instagram that the story had upset her and questioned whether or not the station would take action.

Now, speaking on the Gemma Collins podcast, the former TOWIE star has revealed she's also been in contact with Tilly.

She said: "I don’t want to give oxygen to those making nasty remarks but I do want to say that I was impressed by Tilly’s gracious response on social media, especially as I’ve faced not very nice comments myself in the past.

“I sent Tilly a private message and a voice note. Me and [my nephew] Hayden messaged her the next day."

Gemma added that reading about what Tilly had been through reminded her of times her own weight had been targeted by other people.

"She is absolutely wonderful that girl. Shaming people about their weight and how they look is very very bad," she said.

"Tilly Ramsay is beautiful how she is. I had to relive it and I had forgotten about the person who had said it.

"I actually thought how did I build my career constantly being targeted about my weight and I am proud of myself. The guy who did it apologised to Tilly but I never got my apology."

Speaking during his LBC Radio show, Steve Allen said of Tilly: "She can’t bloomin’ well dance. I’m bored with her already. She’s a chubby little thing, isn’t she? Have you noticed? Probably her dad’s cooking, I should imagine."

Defiant Tilly hit back, writing on Instagram: "I won't tolerate people that think it's okay to publicly comment and scrutinise anyone's weight and appearance".

"I try not to read and listen to comments and negativity however recently being called out on a national radio station by a 67-year-old man is a step too far.

"Steve please feel free voice your opinions however I draw the line at commenting on my appearance."

It was later revealed that Steve had got in touch with Tilly to apologise for his comments.
