It would be pretty unexpected for anything relating to Gemma Winter (Dolly Rose Campbell) to go smoothly in Coronation Street and that couldn’t be truer this evening when she goes into labour after getting trapped in a cable car.
After the not so wise brainwave to get away from the Street for some up high sightseeing with heavily pregnant Gemma, Chesney Brown (Sam Aston) realises his mistake when Gemma doubles over in pain while they are in a cable car.
Hapless Ches panics and hits the emergency stop button, which leaves them dangling mid air while Gemma is giving birth to quadruplets. Not an ideal situation. As scenes of chaos ensure, Gemma is left terrified by the prospect of having to give birth mid-air.
Ideally, with the risks of giving birth to quadruplets, Gemma would need to be in a hospital environment and a natural birth would generally be unlikely so fans may be left fearing that something will go wrong with the babies.
We can’t reveal the end outcome but given the spoilers which lie ahead – which include Gemma and Chesney considering the possibility of lucrative PR deals – we can possibly rule out a devastating tragedy.
As the stressful situation overwhelms the couple, can emergency services reach them?
Coronation Street continues on Wednesday 30th October at 7:30pm and 8:30pm on ITV.
