General Hospital star Jack Wagner has spoken for the first time since his son Harrison died at the age of 27.

Harrison’s body was found in a Los Angeles carpark on Monday June 6 in the early hours of the morning, having suffered with a drink and drug addiction.

The occasional DJ was the son of Jack and Kristina Wagner, who played power-couple Frisco Jones and Felicia Cummings on the long-running hit soap General Hospital from 1984.

Jack and Kristina, who also share older son Peter, 32, tied the knot in 1993, before separating amicably in 2006.

While waiting to board a flight to Vancouver, Jack spoke to his 94,000 followers on Instagram and thanked them for their ‘love and kindness’.

‘I can’t tell you how much that means to me,’ the 62-year-old went on to say in the video uploaded to his account.

In the caption, Jack wrote: ‘Thank you all so much for the love & support you’ve sent me, it’s helped me more than you’ll ever know.’

Jack also revealed he was traveling to Canada to film season 10 of the Hallmark series, When Calls The Heart.

Describing his joy at being part of the show, Jack said he was ‘beyond excited and grateful’ to start work, teasing that he would share some behind-the-scenes footage in the coming months.

Jack’s loved ones and fans were quick to respond to the post, with co-star Erin Krakow writing: ‘Hurry up! Somebody has to bake the scones! ?.’

Sharing her support, General Hospital actress Ashley Jones penned: ‘Go get ‘em, my dear friend. Love you so much.’

Entertainment Tonight writer, producer and host Deidre Behar said: ‘We love you!!! And can’t wait to see what’s in store for Bill!’

Harrison endured a long-running struggle with addiction, which saw him go missing for six days in 2016.

At the time, Jack tweeted, writing: ‘I fear for my youngest son’s safety. Harrison has struggled w drugs & alcohol just as I did when I was younger. He’s relapsed & is MIA 5days [sic].’

Later that day, Harrison got in touch and Jack thanked his fans for the ‘love and prayers’, adding: ‘Please continue to share your struggles, it helps us all.’

Tributes poured in for Harrison, including from Jack’s General Hospital co-star Tristan Rogers, who wrote: ‘My heart goes out to Jack Wagner and Kristina Malandro on the loss of their son.’
