Gogglebox filming thrown into chaos as lockdown rules threaten to split families up

GOGGLEBOX'S filming has been thrown into chaos as lockdown rules threaten to split the families up.

The Channel 4 show follows several families as they react to the latest news and TV programmes.

However, this makes filming difficult during the lockdown – which has been announced to start on Thursday – as many of the cast don't live in the same home.

Sisters Ellie and Izzi Warner are from separate homes and last lockdown Ellie's boyfriend Nat joined her on the coach instead.

The Siddiqui's were also hit last time when patriarch Sid, 73, was forced to isolate away from his two sons, Umar and Baasit.

Best friends Jenny and Lee were forced to bubble together in Jenny's caravan last time – keeping Lee from his husband Steve.

The first episode of season 16 aired on September 11 2020 and should be airing into December.

The Sun Online has contacted Gogglebox for comment.

The show was forced to adapt last lockdown so that filming didn't grind to a halt.

Rigged cameras were used to prevent camera crews from having to go into the homes of the show's stars.

As they were fixed in one place, it meant there was no need for any individuals to have contact with the families.

Channel 4's Director of Programming told Digital Spy at the time: "The coronavirus outbreak is an enormous creative challenge for all broadcasters and though it is having a profound impact on getting some of our productions onto screen, it’s also a time when public service broadcasters like Channel 4 can step up and help people navigate through the extraordinary challenges we all now face."
