  • Graham Norton revealed he had "breaking news" about the Eurovision Song Contest during the show's grand final on Saturday (May 13).

The TV talk show host, 60, made the announcement when he stepped out on stage alongside his co-hosts Alesha Dixon, Julia Sanina and Hannah Waddingham.

Opening the show, Hannah looked back at which countries have had the most success since the contest first kicked off in 1955.

The stats revealed Ireland have won the competition the most, taking home the crown an impressive seven times.

The Emmy Award-winning actress also explained how Luxembourg have five wins, despite not taking part since 1993.

This prompted Graham to reveal major news about the show next year.

He told his co-stars: "Hannah, I have breaking Eurovision news! Luxembourg have just announced they want to re-join next year!"

During the opening of the BBC show, fans were floored when they spotted Kate Middleton playing the piano.

In the scene, Ukraine's winning song Stefania was performed by the group Kalush Orchestra and included a number of cameos as a stylised video was played.

Artists such as Eurovision 2022 runner-up Sam Ryder, Joss Stone and Ms Banks all featured as well as Andrew Lloyd Webber who took to the piano.

But it was Kate's addition that left fans stunned as they headed straight to social media to share their thoughts on her unexpected appearance.

One shocked viewer wrote: "The future queen of England just did a piano solo for Ukraine in lieu of them being able to host in their own country because of the war with Ukraine. Jaw dropped."

"Kate Middleton playing piano wasn't on my #Eurovision bingo card," added a second fan.

While another shared: "Still shocked that The Princess of Wales made an appearance."
