The show was so popular it spawned spin-off film The Lizzie McGuire Movie, which was released in 2003.
The flick saw Lizzie and Gordo head on a class trip to Rome – where Lizzie found she had a pop star double and sang at the Italian Music Awards.
The sequel will feature the title character as a 30-year-old living in New York.
Fans of the hit show were certainly feeling the noughties nostalgia – and thousands took to social media to share their excitement.
