Phoebe Waller-Bridge will be reuniting with her Fleabag co-star Andrew Scott as the duo are set to join forces once again – only this time in His Dark Materials.

Yes, the BBC was making all the announcements this evening, as not only did the streaming giant introduce its new castmate, but it also went and dropped a trailer for the second season.

The exciting reveals happened during the show’s virtual Comic Con panel, where the Hot Priest star decided he’d casually throw the news into conversation.

‘My daemon is going to be played by somebody who is very close to me in real life,’ he stated over video call. ‘Which is a young performer and writer called Phoebe Waller-Bridge.’

Oh yes, we think we’ve heard of her!

Beaming from ear-to-ear, he added: ‘I’m really thrilled about that because it’s all about companionship and friendship and loyalty and that’s what I feel about Phoebe in my real life so it’s wonderful that it’s happening.’

According to Entertainment Weekly, Phoebe’s role is a small cameo – but no matter how small it is, we’re sure it will be iconic.

Shortly after his announcement, the trailer dropped onto the BBC’s official social media, and fans have been lapping it up ever since.

Lyra (Dafne Keen) and Will (Amir Wilson) are seen bumping into each other in the parallel universe Cittàgazze, offering a first look at the Tower of Angels which lies within the city.

The next instalment will be based on Philip Pullman’s original novel The Subtle Knife, and introduces the terrifying Spectres who haunt the living.

Andrew Scott will be returning as John Parry alongside Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Lee Scoresby.

Jade Anouka, Simone Kirby, Ruth Wilson and Ariyon Bakare also make an appearance.

The clip appeared to go down well with fans, who wrote: ‘So pleased this is coming back so soon. I can’t wait to watch it!’

Someone else felt the same, adding: ‘Yes! And so quick! I did not think we would see the new series until next year at least! I cannot wait.’

And others were equally excited: ‘The goosebumps are real.’ They sure are!

His Dark Materials is coming to the BBC this autumn.
