Holby City’s explosive new storylines confirmed as BBC series returns next month

Holby City is set to make its return next month as show bosses have confirmed new episodes will be broadcasted in November.

The popular BBC medical drama has been off air for three long months, and new spoilers have confirmed some explosive new storylines, Digital Spy reports.

Viewers can expect plenty of drama in upcoming episodes, including a groundbreaking coronavirus special, Ric Griffin's departure and Ange and Fletch facing relationship struggles.

CEO Max McGerry will take centre stage in the coronavirus special.

The episode will see Max (Jo Martin) and the Holby City staff working hard as the deadly virus takes hold.

Max will be seen wrestling to "keep the hospital in control and her staff safe", but the huge task will prove difficult.

Teasers have also revealed that Ric will still be in a coma when the soap returns, oblivious to the pandemic going on around him.

When he finally wakes up following his brain surgery, he's shocked to discover how different the world is in powerful scenes.

Holby bosses have already confirmed that Ric actor Hugh Quarshie is leaving the soap after a staggering 19 years on the show.

Viewers will have to wait and see how he makes his departure as the nature of his exit is yet to be revealed.
