The BBC's alleged plans to secure a "golden handcuffs" deal with Holly Willoughby have reportedly hit a snag.

It's been claimed BBC executives had been pursuing the 42-year-old television host, but her recent exit from This Morning has put their plans on hold. BBC Content chief Charlotte Moore had allegedly been working to build a bond between the BBC and Holly Willoughby.

However, a source told The Sun: "Holly isn't going to be signed up on an exclusive deal for the BBC—or to be the face of any of their new shows—at this moment in time." It appears that the "golden handcuffs" deals, which the BBC sparingly offers, are currently off the table for Holly.

Holly had allegedly been positioned to become a significant player for the BBC, having demonstrated her talent on various programs. She impressed viewers on Freeze The Fear alongside Dutch extreme athlete Wim Hof, and even made it to the final two candidates to host the BBC's revival of Survivor.

The source continued: "But after seeing everything that has unfolded over the past five months, the BBC wants to give her some breathing space before making any offers." This includes the ongoing ITV internal report into This Morning" the long-running show that Holly co-hosted with Phillip Schofield for 14 years.

The impact of the report, which is yet to be published, is reportedly also a factor the BBC is taking into consideration. Last autumn, Holly was seen socializing with BBC Content boss Charlotte Moore at a charity event, alongside Zara McDermott, who has since become a star for the broadcaster.

Holly is now taking some time away from work, choosing to spend it with her TV executive husband, Dan Baldwin, and their three children. Her return to host ITV's Dancing On Ice, set to air in January, remains uncertain.

Daily Star were informed by the BBC "We won’t be commenting on this." when contacted.
