Hollyoaks fans were left shocked this evening as Darren Osborne (Ashley Taylor Dawson) received a visit from an unexpected visitor.
Darren had been on the couch in his pyjamas all day but it was the night of his much anticipated open-mic at The Hutch.
Mandy tried to rally him to get dressed but he told he he wasn't up for it, unaware that her boyfriend is struggling with depression.
She shared her concerns with Nancy, Kyle, Cindy and Luke but something struck a chord with Kyle.
He went to visit Darren and identified he's also got depression, while Darren was relieved to finally have someone to open up to.
Kyle told Darren about his friend in rehab, who had depression, and the copying mechanisms that he used, but later, it was made clear the Kyle was talking about himself.
Taking to Twitter, one Hollyoaks viewer penned: "Who would have thought it would be Kyle who helps Darren. So shocked but hope they find happiness."
Another added: "Well done to Kyle for his perceptiveness. I respect him for being a friend to Darren."
A third posted: "Love how Kyle went to check on Darren as soon as he heard Mandy speaking about how unwell he was."
A fourth said: "Adam Rickitt and Ashley Taylor Dawson are tearing my heart out tonight. Beautiful performances."
Many fans have been impressed with how the soap is tackling the subject of depression.
In addition to this, actor Ashley Taylor Dawson thanked fans for their messages.
The Hollyoaks star penned: "Thank you for all the messages and support.
"Massive respect to our incredible director @gsiougas for guiding us through an incredible week… #dontfilterfeelings"
Will the pair manage to get thorough their dark times with the help of each other?
Fans will have to wait and see.
