Hollyoaks legend John Paul McQueen (James Sutton) was left completely and utterly speechless, after Sally St Claire (Annie Wallace) confessed to George Kiss’ (Callum Kerr) murder.
The mainstay of the Channel 4 soap has spent the past couple of weeks in a cell, following the suspicious death of his fiancé.
All the evidence pointed to John Paul – so much so, that even James Nightingale (Gregory Finnegan) believed he was guilty!
Theresa (Jorgie Porter), however, knew otherwise – given that she was there when George met his demise – and therefore she made it her mission to free her cousin from captivity.
She successfully did so, but manipulative PC Smith’s (Callum Lill) claim of the murder weapon having been found resulted in her ending up a suspect in the investigation, after the bent copper witnessed her moving the weapon in question.
With Theresa’s freedom at stake, Sally crumbled, and told John Paul that it was she who murdered George!
But just how will John Paul react to such a revelation?
‘It’s hard to comprehend what this would do to a person!,’ actor James Sutton told Metro.co.uk. ‘To have this happening to you in the space of a few weeks – and in this case, a few hours!’
It’s a safe bet this this revelation will test Sally’s relationship with John Paul – but will John Paul be able to forgive her?
‘It’s a tricky one!’ said James. ‘One the one hand, she’s done what any parent would do in protecting their child – maybe not murdering someone – but certainly in what they can to protect their child.

‘There is that sense of loyalty there. John Paul is not an idiot, he knows Sally acted out of his best interests. But at the same time, she has killed the person that he loved, and the person he was going to buy a house with, move in with and have a future with, so there is a kind of duality to it.
‘He’s furious with Sally and rightly so, but equally, he understands why she did it, and that’s quite a complicated set of emotions for anyone to deal with.
‘The impact of this will be long-lasting, and it will run into another storyline I’m going to be doing up next.
