I’m A Celebrity boss may have let slip the first star to sign up to ITV show – who is it?

Each year I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! welcomes a variety of stars to the Australian jungle where they survive on rations of rice and beans while taking part in some terrifying Bushtucker Trials. While the series doesn’t usually start until late November, bosses have already spoken about who they’d like to see on the ITV sho.

Top of the list is former Manchester United star Eric Cantona.

The show’s producer Richard Cowles said he’d love to hire the Frenchmen for this year’s series and it seems bookmakers think he’d be a good addition too.

Speaking at an RTS Q&A, Richard commented: “I just like the idea of Eric Cantona talking in french and coming up with really profound things.”

Unfortunately for fans of the series, Richard didn’t go on to reveal whether or not he had approached Eric to see if he’d sign up.

Eric is now an actor having starred in films like You and the Night and Looking For Eric after he enjoyed a long career at Manchester United.

He transferred from Leeds United to Manchester in November 1992 for £1,2 million.

Bookies have now revealed Eric has odds of jus 2/1 to sign up for the new series.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “There’s every chance King Eric is crowned I’m A Celeb champ later this year if the

Eric isn’t the only star to be rumoured to sign up for the next series of I’m A Celeb with Strictly Come Dancing professional Kevin Clifton also a favourite to head into the jungle.

After he announced he would be stepping down from the popular BBC series, the Strictly champion could look to another reality series.

If Kevin were to sign up, he would be following in the footsteps of fellow Strictly star Ola Jordan who took part in the 2016 series.

Camilla Sacre-Dallerup also starred on the show in 2009 while Vincent Simone took part in 2013.

Ladbrokes have priced the dancer’s odds of heading Down Under at just 3/1.

Strictly’s loss could be I’m A Celeb’s gain if the latest odds are anything to go by, with a stint Down Under seemingly on the cards for Kevin Clifton,” Alex Apati said.

While fans of the series will be keen for it to return, it was reported earlier this year that Extra Camp has been axed.

In a statement to The Sun, an ITV source said: “ITV have been discussing the future of Extra Camp for some time and it’s not a decision they’ve taken lightly as they are very fond of it.

“But bosses are focusing on growing ITV2’s prime-time offering on the channel and Extra Camp, sadly, isn’t a part of that.

“The show is quite expensive to make and, in the current climate, they’ve had to make a tough commercial decision.”

Addressing the shake-up host Joel Dommett said on Instagram: “Sad news – The time has unfortunately come to put Extra Camp to bed in its uncomfortable hammock. The show will no longer continue.

“It’s been a huge privilege to be a part of a show with such a rich history filled with amazing hosts. The producers have assured me that @emilyatackofficial @adamthomas21 and myself are not to blame.”

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! will return to ITV later this year.
