Blown away by the size and price of London’s rentals, from the £800-a-month Fulham studio with a bed up a ladder to the one where £2,100 a month won’t even get you a toilet?
You haven’t seen anything yet.
Just wait until you take a look at the places on sale in the UK’s capital. That’s where the real fun begins.
Take this property, which at £1.85million is the most expensive studio flat in the entire country.
For that price, you might be imagining a massive place. Instead, it offers 552 sq ft of interior space.
Harrods Estates, who are selling the apartment, describe it as ‘very spacious’ and ‘in excellent condition’.
Some justification for the hefty price tag comes from the location. The flat is part of a rather posh development in Knightsbridge, which sits just opposite Hyde Park and within a short walking distance of bougie spots such as Harrods, Sloane Street, and Brompton Road.
The building also offers some sweet perks, including a 24-hour concierge, valet parking, award-winning gardens, a 20-metre-long swimming pool, a gym, a spa, and a private business suite.
So if you go a bit stir crazy in your studio flat, there’s quite a lot to make use of around the building.
But let’s get into the actual flat.
As we mentioned, it’s a fairly average 552 sq ft – big for a studio, but small for most people’s standards – and sits on the garden level of the building, so has great views out of the large windows.
The main room has a double bed, a dining table, a TV, and a sofa, all laid out on timber hardwood floors.
There’s a fully fitted kitchen and a bathroom – but be warned, it doesn’t have a bathtub, just a shower.
It’s quite a nice place, really, as long as you’re okay with a studio flat rather than something a tad roomier.
You’d also need to be okay with paying around £3,351 per sq ft. That’s quite a bit more than the UK average of £282 per sq ft, or even the London average that comes in at around £562.
