ROCK star Jon Bon Jovi has been vocal about his political views both on stage and off.
The singer has performed at many political benefit concerts to support his favorite candidates, and will be play at President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration on January 20.
Is Jon Bon Jovi a Republican or Democrat?
Jon Bon Jovi, 58, has vocally expressed his support for the Democratic party.
In the past, Bon Jovi supported Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election against Donald Trump.
He had also supported President Obama in 2007 and even held a private fundraiser at his home where attendees paid $30,800 each to dine with the former president.
Additionally, he previously served on President Obama's White House Council for Community Solutions.
Despite his benevolence, Bon Jovi confessed to GQ magazine that he keeps politics out of his performance stage, saying: “I never used the stage to discuss my political beliefs, because even my stage is divided, let alone my audience.
He continued: “So that is not my position. And I’m not here to preach my view of the world. Whether I’m at a rally offstage is my business, I’m just another citizen with that right.”
However, the rockstar did admit to jabbing at President Trump on his song titled Blood in the Water.
He told GQ: “‘Blood In The Water’ is directed at the administration, for sure. It starts off with ‘A storm is coming’ – Stormy Daniels. ‘Your shadow sold your secrets and he’s about to do some time’ – Michael Cohen.
Adding: “That’s what this was all written about. Now there’s blood in the water, a year later, or two months ago, you could say that it was the impeachment.”
What happened between Bon Jovi and Trump?
Bon Jovi and Trump were at odds back in 2014 as it was reported that the president prevented the rock star from purchasing the Buffalo Bills football team at the time.
Trump was reportedly interested in purchasing the team but would not outbid Bon Jovi and his partners, so he allegedly hired Republican operative Michael Caputo to form a group against the singer.
Suddenly, a group known as the 12th Man Thunder rose out of Buffalo, New York and reportedly established “Bon Jovi-free zones” in the city, with some radio stations refusing to play his music.
Ultimately, a local businessman named Terry Pegula who owned Buffalo’s ice hockey team outbid the both of them.
Bon Jovi, still bitter about the loss, claims that he “won’t ever go back to the city of Buffalo” and removed it from his touring list.
Will Bon Jovi perform at Biden’s inauguration?
Aside from joining President-elect Joe Biden and his wife Dr. Jill in the campaign trail, the singer will be part of the Inauguration Day celebrity lineup.
Bon Jovi will form part of a 90-minute prime-time program hosted by Tom Hanks which will also feature remarks from Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris.
Special guests and performers joining Bon Jovi include Ant Clemons, Foo Fighters, John Legend, Eva Longoria, Demi Lovato, Bruce Springsteen, Justin Timberlake, and Kerry Washington.
