JACQUELINE Jossa rose to fame playing the character Lauren Branning on EastEnders.
And now the actress has hinted there’s a possibility her character may follow in the footsteps of her ex Peter Beale and return to Walford.
Is Lauren Branning returning to EastEnders?
Paying tribute to EastEnders as the show celebrated its 35th anniversary, Jacqueline hinted that the door will always be open for her character Lauren's return.
The star posted pictures of her time on the show on Instagram alongside the caption: “I had such an amazing time and LOVED Lauren Branning with ALL of my heart! I miss you lozza, maybe see you again one day.
“Amazing week of eps congrats everyone involved!”
Jake Wood – who plays Lauren’s on-screen dad Max Branning – told Digital Spy last year that he’d always thought Lauren would return one day.
He said: "I would love her to return and always thought she would."
"Lauren hasn't been killed off, obviously Max is still in the show and she has a lot of other family in it as well. It's like any other character that is still out there – it's always open.
"I always thought she would return eventually – she just needed some time at home to be a mum, which she's done. So now I think it will just be up to her when she's ready.
"I don't know whether that is now or not, but I would love her to come back. I think she's a great actress and a real asset to the show. It would be great."
However, EastEnders are yet to confirm Lauren's return and fans will have to tune in to find out whether it's wishful thinking.
What do fans think about Lauren's possible return to EastEnders?
Lauren Branning’s ex Peter Beale returned to EastEnders last week for the explosive anniversary episodes.
He had been living in New Zealand with Lauren after she left the Square in 2018 to give things another go with him.
His comeback has left fans hoping that Lauren will be quick to follow him back to Walford – despite their off-screen split.
One fan tweeted: "@bbceastenders Peter cannot return without Lauren. The amount of times youve put the 2 of them together to just break them up gives the likes of Ronnie and Jack a run for their money. How do you explain him abandoning her and his son AGAIN and still make him likeable? #eastenders."
Another added: "If Lauren Branning comes back to EastEnders I might have to start watching again."
A third tweeted: "Lauren will return one day, and her and Peter will be together again."
What was Lauren Branning’s exit storyline?
Jacqueline departed from the soap in dramatic fashion in 2018 during her sister Abi’s funeral.
The single mother made the decision to head to New Zealand where her ex Peter was living to give things another go.
She marched straight out of the funeral and past her boyfriend Josh – and seemingly straight into the graveyard.
The scenes left viewers confused as to whether she was planning on living in a cemetery.
But last year Kathy confirmed that Lauren was in New Zealand with Peter when she revealed that Ian was there visiting because the pair were having relationship troubles.
