Strictly Come Dancing fans have seen Jamie Laing make some significant progress with partner Karen Hauer and last week, he got his highest score yet of 23 after his cheeky Charleston to ‘Zero to Hero’ from Disney’s Hercules. After the pair performed their energetic routine, they were left elated with how well things had gone which saw Jamie have trouble putting Karen down after they finished the routine with a lift. Today, former contestant Gethin Jones warned Jamie against doing the same thing again in the future.

Karen and Jamie have become one of the most popular couples amongst fans as they continue to inject a huge amount of fun into every performance.

And Saturday night’s episode saw the pair move up the leaderboard after their Charleston became a hit with the judges.

But after the dance went smoothly, Jamie got so excited he nearly dropped Karen as the routine came to a close.

He tried to manoeuvre Karen down safely after the Made in Chelsea star had lifted her up for their big finish.

However, fans were left in hysterics when he nearly dropped Karen onto the famous dance floor.

This morning, the incident was addressed on Morning Live, where the pair joined Gethin Jones and Kym Marsh to chat about how things were going so far.

Gethin – who made it to the semi-finals back in 2007 – went on to issue Jamie with a warning when the subject of the near-miss came up into conversation.

After introducing Karen and Jamie, Gethin said to the latter: “You gave yourself the longest round of applause for that dance!”

Jamie replied: “I’m still proud of it! I’m just glad this [Karen] one kept up.”

And Gethin added: “I don’t know how you cope with the facial expressions, Karen.”

Karen said to the host: “You know, I just laugh, I look at him and I see he’s having such a good time and I’m giggling throughout the whole thing.

“I’m counting to make sure nothing goes wrong but at the same time the panic in his eyes and just the excitement! It’s amazing.”

But Kym couldn’t miss the opportunity to bring up the near-disaster move from Jamie.

She commented: “Taking about panicking in the eyes, your Herculean strength didn’t quite hold up toward the end because you almost dropped Karen!”

“We worked out what happened there though, we worked out what happened,” Jamie noted before explaining his surprise at the reaction to his routine.

He said: “So I picked up Karen at the end and everyone started applauding and I went, ‘What, they’re applauding me?’”

“So I pushed Karen off, it’s all for me,” with his partner reminding him: “I’m still here!”

And Gethin warned the star: “Don’t ever drop your partner! It looked like you had such a fun week though.”

Jamie could be in trouble this weekend as he is currently one of the bookmakers’ favourites to leave the competition next.

According to Coral, Jamie is currently at 50/1 odds to win, putting him at the bottom of the crop of stars.

Will he manage to make it through another week of Strictly or will he find himself back in the bottom two on Saturday night?

Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday at 7:25pm on BBC One.
