KATIE Price’s builder mate – who she’s currently holidaying with – is a convicted fraudster who was sentenced to three years in prison following a string of crimes.
Andrew Chatters is working on refurbishing Katie’s mucky mansion in Surrey and set her up with current toyboy Charles Drury.
Chatters, known as Andy, is staying in a luxury villa in Turkey with Katie, her children Bunny, Jett and Harvey, and new boyfriend Drury.
But The Sun Online can reveal Chatters was sentenced to three years in prison for £70,000 worth of tax fraud in 2015.
He was found guilty of two counts of "cheating the public revenue contrary to common law" by fraudulently claiming a repayment of £34,576 in VAT when he worked for A and J Racing, an equine company.
An HM Revenues and Customs investigation later found he had also failed to declare VAT charged on the sale of racehorses and equine construction services totalling a further £34,500 in VAT.
Chatters, who is a former footballer and played for Ely City, was then sentenced to another two years in prison after police caught him using other people’s credit cards to live a luxury lifestyle.
He spent almost £90,000 by opening trade accounts in other people’s names, using other another person's credit card to pay for a luxury hotel stay and signing cheques he was was not authorised to sign to buy six racehorses.
He also rented an excavator truck worth £27,000, which has never been returned to the company, and forged a signature to obtain products worth £10,276 from Jewsons builders merchant.
Chatters confirmed to The Sun Online that he spent 26 months in prison.
Detective Constable Paul Atkinson, who investigated Chatters' crimes, which took place between 2011 and 2013 said: “He had no boundaries to who he would commit fraud against and enjoyed an extravagant lifestyle on other people’s money.
“He would befriend many of his victims with his money-making schemes which included building a stable in Newmarket.”
Chatters now has his own building business and was working on making over Katie’s Surrey home before work was stopped because she hadn’t got planning permission from the council.
He’s now on holiday with the mum-of-five in Turkey and was seen on a night with her and new boyfriend Drury.
When approached for comment by The Sun Online, Chatters declined to comment.
