Emmerdale’s Kerry Wyatt (played by Laura Norton) and her daughter Amy (Chelsea Halfpenny) accidentally caused the factory fire that killed Frank Clayton (Michael Praed) and now it looks like a dramatic exit for the scheming mum could be on the cards.
Recent episodes have seen Kerry struggling to cope with her guilt in the aftermath of the traumatic event, especially given that the ex-con died saving his daughter Tracy Shankley (Amy Walsh).
So far, police have laid the blame at Frank’s door but of course, the truth always comes out one way or another in soapland.
That means it can only be a matter of time before Kerry and Amy’s secret is revealed meaning the end of the road for the perpetrator either by a stint in jail or going on the run.
Fans are convinced that Kerry will soon be kissing goodbye to the Dales and will either be arrested for her heinous crimes or she’ll flee to avoid being sent down.
Taking their theories to Twitter, one viewer wrote: ‘Kerry just admit it and then you can leave the village,’ while another added: ‘Isn’t Kerry due some leave? A spell in prison will do.’
There are currently no plans for Kerry to leave Emmerdale, but many will be left wondering if her exit isn’t too far away.
Kerry and Amy started the fire right after they raided the safe at the factory – a crime that Kerry had previously claimed would be ‘victimless’.
However the pair noticed that the robbery was being caught on CCTV, and when they tried to destroy the footage, they carelessly left wires exposed which sparked and set the building on fire.
The flames took hold of the entire sweet factory, putting Tracy in danger as she was trapped inside the building.
However, Frank was able to get his daughter out alive, but ended up getting caught in an explosion that claimed his life.
Tracy has vowed to get justice for her late father and is eager to find out the truth about who caused the fire.
Speaking to Metro.co.uk, actress Amy said: ‘She 100% believes that it’s not him not his fault and as you saw, she’s trapped in a cupboard and he’s saved her so she’s got the guilt of that as well as she feels like it should have been her and it was her fault that he died.’
Will Tracy learn that Kerry and Amy were behind it all?
Emmerdale continues Monday at 7pm on ITV.
