'Loki' Fans Definitely Don't Trust Miss Minutes

Loki was a time-hopping adventure, unlike anything that the MCU had ever seen. While hints of the multiverse go back to films like Doctor Strange and Spider-Man: Far From Home, Loki made the idle speculation, and barely-fleshed-out references a reality in the future.

While the finale gave fans answers about the force behind it, Miss Minutes still remains a mystery.

‘Loki’: Who is Miss Minutes?

A throwback to Disney’s early days, Miss Minutes began as little more than a single cartoon image meant to introduce the TVA  not only to the series titular character but to the fans, too. However, as the time-hopping adventure took its form and ran, Miss Minutes became a reality. She spoke to Loki at his desk while keeping her cartoony form.

According to Disney’s Fandom page, by long-time voice-acting legend Tara Strong, we never quite got a chance to see what made Miss Minutes tick. Like so much of the TVA, it was nearly impossible to know the character’s proper form. Was she a holographic projection, a part of the multiverse? Something in between? Much of this was answered in the final episode when Jonathan Majors’ He Who Remains was revealed to be the force behind the timekeepers, TVA, and keeping the various timelines in order.

Miss Minutes acts as the middle-clock between Loki, Sylvie, and He Who Remains. While presented as a digital assistant who helps the TVA ensure that every timeline stays intact, there was something else. However, while one can presume that Miss Minutes was part of his projection, we do not quite know where she stands. Leading up to the finale, however, fans had some fascinating ideas.

Can we trust her?

Miss Minutes was always presumed to have some nefarious intentions, but how nefarious was anyone’s guess. Loki was a series that asked more questions than it answered, but it was done in a meticulous matter. Audiences didn’t know what was going on because nobody did. Even those in charge were unaware of what the TVA was, and when the Timekeepers were revealed to be little more than high-tech Chuck-E-Cheese robots, things started to make sense.

Leading up to the ultimate reveal, many fans on Reddit saw Miss Minutes as a key to it all. Many thought she was a computer program– a projection that collected data that she could lose for whatever unseen scheme was brewing.

“I think she’s an advanced program that will gain more sentience and agency and will end up helping the good guys. But having the voice of Bubbles break bad would also be interesting,” wrote u/CassandraOracle, hearkening back Strong’s past voice work on Powerpuff Girls.

Another user, u/bigC_94, saw the light, to some extent, when Strong’s name appeared in the title.

“I was suspicious when I saw that Tara Strong was voicing her in the end credits of episode 1 lol No need to have such a powerful and prominent voice actor to voice a one-off character in a 10-min lore dump…unless the character serves a purpose beyond that. Then when we saw her in episode 2, it confirmed my suspicion,” they wrote.

What happened?

In the end, several users were on the right path, but others nearly hit it out of the park.

“Miss Minutes, a literal clock, is the only “Time Keeper”; an AI created by Kang to oversee the TVA and ensure the timeline where he rose to power stays intact,” predicted u/skkiTer.

This was just about correct. Kang, also known as He Who Remains, took over the timeline and claimed it was the only way to keep the evil inside of him from wreaking havoc all over the multiverse. Now, after Sylvie killed the man behind the curtain, chaos reigns throughout the MCU, and nearly any possibility is, theoretically, in play.

Loki ended season one on July 24, but with Eternals, What If…?, and several other projects on the horizon, the entire universe is in shambles, and not even the TVA knows what to do. How this affects the future Marvel events remains to be seen, but if Miss Minutes is done, herself, many were correct in assuming that she was up to no good.
