ITV star Lorraine Kelly has opened up about her weight gain during lockdown, and shared her plan to shed the pounds in 2022.
The chat show host opened up to HELLO! Magazine about going up two dress sizes with gyms closed and the country living inside stressful Covid-19 restrictions in 2020 and 2021.
And now Lorraine plans to get trim using the WeightWatchers app.
Opening up in a video retweeted to her Twitter account, the star said: "Before the lockdown a couple of years ago, I was actually doing quite well. I was going to exercise classes a couple of times a week, and I was eating well.
"I was eating in a really healthy way and then wham! Lockdown came and yeah, I started comfort eating, obviously couldn’t go to any classes. And now I just feel as if I need a little bit of help to get my sparkle back.
"It’s all about being happy and about being healthy."
Lorraine went on to describe the benefits of the app, adding: "It is fantastic."
She then explained that it’s now her goal to fit into a red dress from a few years ago.
"Over the past couple of years I’ve gone from a size 10 to a size 14 and people say, ‘Oh you look fine!’, but I don’t feel fine. I want to feel more like myself – which is why I’m doing this.
"I’m not weighing myself, but there is a dress I want to get back into. It is a size 10, red dress that I feel really good in, so that’s my aim.
"I want to get back into that and I want to be happy and I want to be healthy so I’ll keep you posted!"
Writing for HELLO!, Lorraine said: "I know I’m not the only one who has gained ‘Covid weight’ and I just want to get back to my old self.
"Remember back [in lockdown] when we were only allowed to go out and exercise on our own for an hour a day? No wonder so many of us turned to guzzling chocolate, crisps and cake and drinking too much booze.
"I’ve gone from a size 10 to a size 14 and I know I’m on the slippery slope to just getting ore and more lazy and unhealthy."
Lorraine did, however, admit she doesn’t keep scales to weigh herself in the house.
The star even told OK! Magazine of a hilarious wardrobe blunder which led her to take charge of her life.
She said: "I was talking to the boys from The Wanted on my show and my button pinged off my dress during the interview.
"I nearly took one of their eyes out. It was hilariously funny and I didn’t expose myself or anything like that – those poor young men! But I thought, ‘I need to get a grip’."
