Love Islands Haris is not bad boy and scrap is misunderstanding, says dad

Haris Namani's dad broke his silence after a video of the Love Island 2023 star fighting in the street was uploaded to social media.

A video of Haris has caused quite a stir on social media as it emerged that the reality TV star was filmed having a scrap with another man during a boozy night out in Doncaster last year.

His dad has since publicly come to his 21-year-old son's defence and claimed he's actually pals with the other man in the video and has shut down accusations that his son is a "thug".

Dad Mehedin Namani shared that there is no animosity between the two friends and claimed the fight was simply a misunderstanding.

Haris's dad told Daily Mail: "This happened two years ago. They're friends. They shook hands. This was a long time ago – it's nothing."

Before adding: "He's not a bad boy. He's got a good record. He's been brought up in the right way. This is just people who are jealous and they want to put him down."

In the video, which is doing the rounds on Twitter, Haris is filmed landing a punch on the unnamed man as things got very heated between them on the street.

After hitting the man for a second time, Haris shouted: "I'm not a bully, I'm not a f***ing bully, on my mum's life."

A friend of Haris also came to his mate's defence and claimed that the altercation was just a "misunderstanding" between the boxer and the other man.

"The kid who Haris punched is okay with him now," said Haris' mate, and shared that if anyone was to speak to him, he wouldn't have a "bad word" to say about Haris.

He added that he didn't believe the unknown man would be happy about the video being made public.

Following the video being shared on social media, a spokesperson for Love Island said: "Language and behaviour in the Villa is always closely monitored, and Islanders are reminded of what we consider acceptable during their time on the show.

"Extensive duty of care protocols for all Islanders includes video training and guidance covering language and behaviour."
