But his ex, Courtney Hodson, 23, claimed he was the "biggest game player" in a comment under the photo announcing his involvement in the show.

She also claimed the the pair were at winter wonderland together "six weeks ago" with her family – but Haris has said the pair called it quits after the summer.

Speaking to Daily Star and other press, Haris said the pair were seeing each other through summer but then he told her it wasn't going to work out.

He said: "After a few months I didn't see her as being the one. She never met my mum, my dad, my sisters or my brother. It never got to that stage.

"I don't know why she's seen it as a different view, she was probably a bit more interested in me than I was in her."

Haris explained that he was "shocked" she made the comments, adding that they had a "few memories" together, but said he didn't see her as being the one.

He added that by the time he came to auditioning in the show, "Courtney was out of the picture".

Courtney had ranted about her ex on the initial Instagram post and said he left her for a TV show, before adding: "I called it from the second he left me."

Haris has said prior to entering the show that he has "never found love" and said he believes he's on the best show to help him find the one.

He explained that his aim is to try and find someone he can take home to meet his parents – and he's going to give it a go as he takes part in the ninth series of the show.

The upcoming season will be hosted by Maya Jama who will be stepping into Laura Whitmore's shoes and taking over the hosting duties.

Winter Love Island will be back on TV for the second time after first airing in January 2020.

Love Island returns on Monday, January 16 at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
