Love Island's Michael Griffiths rushed to A&E as he struggles to breathe and his 'throat closes up' due to hayfever

LOVE Island’s Michael Griffiths was rushed to A&E yesterday as he struggled to breathe and his “throat closed up”.

The 29-year-old was filming his new MTV show when his hayfever got so bad that the panicked star decided he needed medical attention.

Speaking on his Instagram story, post-hospital dash, he said: "So, as you can tell my voice has gone back to normal, but I’ll give you a little update.

“My hayfever was so bad yesterday it was like my throat closed up. I did go to A&E thanks to Danny there, who took me to A&E. They quoted a six-hour wait. I mean, my throat’s closing up.”

He continued: "Anyway, they sent an ambulance, the paramedic called me, and then she said that I was of no concern – no imminent concern of harm – so she told me to just go to bed and chill out. So I took another antihistamine and I woke up like this. Oh yeah, it’s back."

His caption on his story read: "I did have to sleep sat up though as recommended by the paramedic & my sister."

When someone mocked his hayfever on his latest post, he replied telling them it had “fully written him off.”

However he seemed in much better health this morning as he headed to the gym for a session.

Michael is currently shooting a show alongside Chris Taylor, Jordan Hames and Danny Williams – the lads he met during the fifth series of Love Island.

The boys moved in to their bachelor pad, located in Essex, during the summer when lockdown restrictions started to ease and started filming Living The Dream.

Speaking out about their exciting new project, Michael, 29, told OK! Magazine: "We’re not exactly strangers to filming ourselves and being on camera and now MTV is giving us the chance to film our own show; giving viewers unfiltered access into parts of our lives you wouldn’t see every day."

He added: "Living with the boys has been a laugh and we can’t wait for everyone to see what we’ve been up to."
