Maggie Rhee FINALLY returns to The Walking Dead in first look at season 10 finale – while Father Gabriel’s life hangs in the balance

MAGGIE Rhee FINALLY returns to The Walking Dead in the first look at the season 10 finale – while Father Gabriel’s life hangs in the balance.

The character – played by Lauren Cohan – was last seen on screen at the mid-point of season nine.

But in the new trailer for the final episode of season 10 – which has been delayed in post-production because of the coronavirus pandemic – Maggie returns.

The character is seen reading a letter which fills her in on what has happened during her absence, including the deaths of her close friends Jesus, Tara and Enid.

Viewers will have to wait and see how Maggie reacts to such devastating news, but show runner Angela Kang recently hinted fans will get answers about where Maggie has been until now.

She told Entertainment Weekly: "We'll see that Maggie is…. We'll know what's happened with her and what that means for our group."

The penultimate episode which aired this week ended with the new leader of The Whisperers – Beta – leading his horde towards the survivors who were holed up in an old hospital building.

As everyone prepares for battle, the action is seen through the eyes of Father Gabriel, leading some fans to fear something terrible will happen to the priest.

One wrote on Twitter: "I'm really concerned about Father Gabriel for the season 10 finale. I think he may be our next major loss."

Another tweeted: "Please tell me Father Gabriel is not going to die!!!!"

A third added: "Maggie is back, hopefully we get some stuff about the Commonwealth, and also a lot of Father Gabriel has been shown in the trailer, is it a 'Certain Doom' for him?"

Elsewhere, the trailer shows the identity of a mysterious figure who crosses paths with Aaron, Alden, Eugene, Yumiko and new addition Princess as they head to meet Stephanie.
