Ever since it was revealed that Ian and Cindy Beale (Adam Woodyatt and Michelle Collins) would be returning to EastEnders, we have been eagerly theorising over what might bring them back to Albert Square.
Tonight’s (June 14) episode of the BBC soap saw Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) drop a major hint, as she made plans for her upcoming wedding.
After a visit from Rocky Cotton’s (Brian Conley) troublesome wife Jo (Vicki Michelle), and the introduction of Jasper the parrot to the family home, Kathy finally got some good news.
Despite having been kept awake all night by the talkative parrot, Kathy’s spirits were lifted when Rocky revealed that he had made plans for them to go to the registry office and make an official date for the wedding.
After finally receiving the divorce papers from Jo, he organised cover at the café and made sure he had sorted out the licence required for Lola’s wake, with the aim of dedicating the day entirely to their wedding plans.

The pair were able to successfully set a date for July, and later met up with Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) and partner Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman) in the Queen Vic to discuss arrangements.
Reiss soon became flustered after expressing his excitement for the big day, wondering if he would actually be invited or qualify to be Sonia’s plus one.
Rocky assured him that he would get an invite, with Kathy insisting that she wanted everybody there, including her son, Ian.
Ian hasn’t been seen by Walford residents since his sudden departure in 2020, though viewers saw him secretly pay his respects to Dot Cotton from afar on the day of her funeral in 2022.
With Ian set to make a huge comeback alongside ex-wife Cindy in the coming months, could Kathy’s wedding be the thing to bring him back?
And with their rocky history, what will Kathy make of Cindy’s arrival?
