Matt Hancock's vaccine tears made Hollyoaks trend for a harsh reason

Matt Hancock broke down in tears on live television, as he watched Margaret Keenan, 90, become the first person in the world to receive Pfizer’s vaccine.

The health secretary wiped away tears and smiled, commenting that it had been a ‘tough year for many’, but the work that has gone into making the vaccine makes him ‘proud to be British.’

Many flocked to social media to accuse the minister of staging a performance by shedding ‘crocodile tears’ during his appearance on Good Morning Britain.

And a body language expert told Metro.co.uk exclusively that Hancock’s display wasn’t ‘convincing’ as she analysed the scene.

What’s more, Hollyoaks subsequently began trending on Twitter, with some social media users commenting that they had ‘seen better acting’ in the Channel 4 soap.

Only in 2020, eh?

One user said: ‘He’ll be on Hollyoaks in the next few months with acting skills like that.’

‘I’ve seen better acting in Hollyoaks mate,’ another added.

Yes, with hard-hitting stories such as the radicalisation story — which culminated last year — and the on-going County Lines drugs narrative, Hollyoaks has arguably never been better.
