There were two parts to the latest trial as I’m A Celebrity contestant Mike Tindall was placed on a chair above a pool of sloppy mess. He had to answer questions correctly so Matt Hancock didn’t have to spend as long in a cage with various critters. In a first-look at Friday’s trial, Mike could be seen making a mistake meaning Matt had to endure a long time with spiders.
Dec asked: “The first cage contains spiders. What is the collective noun for a group of spiders?”
Mike paused as he tried to think of a reply as Dec pushed: “I’m going to need an answer.”
“Yes, I gathered that,” the rugby player hit back as Ant teased: “What’s your answer Mike?”
Mike guessed: “A clan,” before he was plunged into the pool of gunk.
“It’s the wrong answer,” Dec informed him. “I would have accepted cluster or clutter.”
“Yeah I wasn’t getting that,” Mike admitted as he tried to climb out of the pool.
Dec continued: “That means you won one minute to add to the 30 seconds you’ve already got.
“Very best of luck, you get one minute thirty in this cage. Your time starts now.”
Mike wished Matt “good luck” as he climbed into the chamber with the critters.
While the Tory MP seemed to be calm and collected, viewers will have to tune in on Friday evening to see how he fares.
With just days to go until the I’m A Celebrity final, Matt is among the favourites with bookies to make the final three.
The former Health Secretary has leapfrogged Mike and is now third favourite in the betting to win the entire series, at odds of 7/1.
Elsewhere, Jill Scott continues to lead the way at 2/5 to be crowned Queen of the Jungle.
Seann Walsh is the heavy 1/4 favourite to be sent packing next.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “In yet another bizarre twist in the betting, Matt Hancock has now leapfrogged Mike Tindall and now finds himself with one foot in the final three.”
Could Mike be pipped to the post by the MP after they tackle the Celebrity Cyclone?
Meanwhile, ITV bosses have confirmed a Covid outbreak on set of the ITV series.
An ITV spokesperson confirmed to Express.co.uk: “We can confirm a couple of production team members have tested positive for coronavirus.
“The protocols we have in place for such an eventuality have been implemented and filming has continued as we adhere to all Covid guidelines.”
I’m A Celebrity airs on ITV at 9pm.
