Maura Higgins was awkwardly close to her Dancing on Ice pro partner during tonight's final – in front of his wife.
The Love Island star returned to the show for the first time since splitting from Curtis Pritchard at the start of the week.
And the news broke on Saturday night that Alex and fellow professional skater Carlotta, who have been together for 11 years, are said to be close to announcing they have called time on their four year marriage.
There seemed to be tension in the studio as presenter Holly Willoughby spoke to Maura before a group performance by the eliminated celebs.
Pro skater Alex had his arms on Maura while wife Carlotta watched on just inches away from the pair.
When asked how she felt about performing again, Maura said: "I can't wait. There's no pressure now. I'm gonna smash it."
Carlotta remained silent while the presenters spoke to her pro partner Ben Hanlin.
Maura was caught up in a backstage jealousy row on Dancing On Ice days before her split from Curtis.
Rumours had circulated that Alexander's wife Carlotta, who is also a professional on the show, didn't trust the Irish beauty around her husband.
Carlotta was said to have been annoyed by the coupling and beginning to question Maura's motives backstage.
Now Alex and Carlotta are said to be close to announcing they have called time on their marriage after being together for 11 years.
“Alex’s marriage to Carlotta is all but over, after 11 years together. They are trying to put on a united front for now, but the writing is on the wall,” a source close to the couple to The Sun on Sunday.
“They haven’t been happy together in months, and Alex has been confiding in Maura about their personal problems, which hasn’t helped,” the source went on.
“He is besotted with her, and feels she is a much better fit for him than Carlotta, who is livid she is being pushed to one side,” the source claimed.
Maura took to her Instagram stories to confirm the news earlier this week – admitting they "couldn't make it work".
She wrote: "Curtis and I have made the decision to separate. We enjoyed a great experience from our time in the villa and want to thank everyone for supporting our relationship.
"There is no easy way to get through a breakup and no bad feeling on either side.
"We tried to make it work but it wasn't to be and I wish Curtis nothing but the best for the future."
They hadn't been pictured together in over a month after they attended the National Television Awards in January 28.
It was reported that after the ceremony they'd had a heated row after he said she only got the red carpet presenting gig because of his fame.
Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury are the only Love Island couple from the 2019 series that are still together.
