Max George praises Tom Parkers strong widow Kelsey: They were peas in a pod

Max George has opened up about his late The Wanted bandmate's Tom Parker’s relationship with his wife Kelsey, 32, and branded the pair “peas in a pod”.

Tom and Kelsey’s love story began in 2009 when they met. They went on to tie the knot in 2018 and welcomed two children together, Aurelia, who is now two, and Bodhi, one.

Max appeared on This Morning today, Tuesday 31 May, to discuss Tom’s book, which the doting dad-of-two penned over the last year of his life.

The late singer had been diagnosed with a brain tumour 18 months before his death.

Discussing the book, Max said: “It’s a book that Tom did over the last 12 months of his life. It goes from the very start, from his upbringing all the way to the end – the whole journey, how he had rough beginnings and his own troubles, but it’s a book about hope and it’s a book about triumph and obviously Tom had a lot of difficulties along the way, especially towards the end the most difficult thing anyone could go through and Kelsey, obviously.”

Addressing how Kelsey’s doing, Max added: “Kelsey’s been awesome. She’s always been really strong, like Tom. They were literally two peas in a pod. She’s raising awareness for glioblastoma and cancer in general, she’s been great. We talk quite often, just check in, make sure she’s alright.”

Earlier this month, Kelsey appeared on Loose Women to talk about Tom’s passing, where she admitted that it still came as a “shock” to her despite him being terminally ill.

When asked by Kaye Adams if she and Tom had talked about plans for his funeral before he died, Kelsey said: “We never went there… like I know he had terminal cancer but this actually came as a massive shock to us.”

“I didn’t feel like this was going to be the end for him," before she added that she and Tom “didn’t really talk about death”.

She also heartbreakingly revealed that on the morning of Tom’s death, she told their daughter: “I’ve got to go today to make sure that the angels come and take daddy, he’ll be going, but the angels are going to come and collect him.”

“I need to make sure daddy goes to the angels," Kelsey added.

She said that when she had to break the devastating news of Tom’s death to Aurelia, she had to tell her: “Dad’s dead, he’s not coming back”.

Following Tom’s tragic death, Kelsey has been supported by her husband’s bandmates Max, Siva Kaneswaran, Jay McGuiness and Nathan Sykes, who Kelsey said will help raise her kids.
