Maya Jama plays off Love Island blunder live on Aftersun as game is messed up’

Love Island: Aftersun provided drama on Sunday night, and not just from the villa, as they suffered a blunder live on air.

The blunder came as host Maya Jama interviewed islanders Whitney Adebayo and Lochan Nowacki.

As the couple went to take part in the game, they soon released that they were missing essential props, and Maya, 28, quickly noted that the game had been "messed up."

The interview got off to a chaotic start as Whitney, 25, was left speechless as the room chanted her name. The popular islander then knocked out her earpiece, meaning she couldn't hear what Maya was saying to her in the beach hut.

Once they had a brief chat, Maya started to kick off the game as she told the pair: "Here at After Sun we've made a little game for you to play. It's called 'Who's more likely to…?"

Then the blunder came to light as Maya said: "I'm going to ask a few questions, and you'll reveal your answers using your paddles." Then after a pause, Maya quickly asked them: "Have you got your paddles?"

As Whitney and Lochan, 25, looked at each other confused, they said: "We don't have any paddles."

Host Maya didn't look impressed with what had happened as she said: "Oh, someone messed up somewhere."

Keeping professional, Maya insisted that they will go ahead with the game, just in a different way. Explaining what they will do instead, she said: "So instead just shout your answer – say one of the other's name and you get a point."

She also added: "You don't win anything, it's just for fun."

Both Whitney and Lochan then embraced the game, as they managed to match the majority of the answers. That is despite them only being coupled up for a matter of days.

The blunder or the game isn't what got viewers talking online, instead, it was Whitney's appearance on the show. One viewer said: "So happy for Whitney being able to hear the audience cheer her name on Aftersun."

Another added: "Whitney is the best girl to come out of Love Island, and you can’t tell me otherwise.. the reaction she just got on Aftersun says it all. THAT’S OUR WINNER."

"THE WAY THE CROWD CHEERED AND CHANTED FOR WHITNEY SHE’S A NATIONAL TREASURE," said another excited fan.

With someone else adding: "So happy Whitney is seeing how much after sun LOVES her."

Finally, one viewer tweeted: "AYO WHIT! I shed tears listening to everyone roar and chant her name on Aftersun. The people’s champ. ITV give Whitney her own show!"
