Amazon Prime Video released Mirzapur season two last month and many viewers have already raced through the new episodes. The show certainly finished on a cliffhanger with much uncertainty. Although season three hasn’t got the green light officially, audience members have been coming up with theories about the characters – particularly regarding Munna Tripathi (played by Divyenndu).
Is Munna still alive in Mirzapur?
WARNING: This article contains major spoilers from Mirzapur seasons 1 and 2
Season two’s finale was packed to the rafters with action and drama with the tables constantly turning.
Guddu Pandit (Ali Fazal) appeared to have killed Munna after spending the whole of the second series trying to take down the Tripathi family.
In the final episode, he confronted Munna and shot him multiple times in scenes mirroring the murder of his beloved brother Bablu Pandit (Vikrant Massey).
Munna was riddled with bullet wounds and very much seemed to be dead by the end of the series.
While Guddu and Golu Gutpa (Shweta Tripathi) were focused on Munna, they failed to notice Kaleen Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi) getting kidnapped.
Sharad Shukla (Anjum Sharma) spirited away the king of Mirzapur, who was in a pretty bad way as well after getting fired at by Guddu.
Kaleen Bhaiya was still very much alive and Munna seemed to be dead and gone for good – despite being a major character in Mirzapur.
Even though it really does seem Munna is no more, several fans have shared an intriguing theory about how the character may have survived and could live to see another day.
Fans have been suggesting Munna has the rare condition of dextrocardia, which means his heart is on the right side of his chest as opposed to the left.
Quora user Samin Zaidi said: “Munna is alive, there will be proper backstory of munna’s mother in season 3.” They added they thought dextrocardia was how he had cheated death again.
While Reddit user st0lenfish said: “I mean it’s not like they need magic to bring Munna back, they can use Dextrocardia to bring him back, a condition where the heart is on the right side instead of the left.”
Fan Nitesh Karhe simply seemed positive about the character being alive and posted on Quora: “On another side, Guddu and Golu have left the scene but Munna bhaiyya is still alive.

Mirzapur cast: Why did Divyenndu leave Mirzapur as Munna Tripathi? [EXPLAINER]
“Munna is taken to hospital by his wife. And somehow Munna is saved. Because Munna is immortal [sic].”
All of this is compounded by the fact Munna decided at the start of season two he was immortal and no one could kill him.
Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, actor Divyenndu addressed the dextrocardia fan theory and admitted his mind was “blown” when he read it.
He added to the outlet: “What a beautiful conspiracy theory this is!”
On the positive reception towards his character: “I feel good.
“I feel very fortunate and I want to thank everyone because as important as this character was for me, it was important for people to love this character but at the same time see the character behind the actor and they did that with all the praise and everything.
“It’s very, very heartening. I mean, you can’t ask for more.
“Your final season, you’re saying goodbye to the show and you get great reviews, I think you’re ending on a high. You can just hang on for that.”
From his words, it does seem Munna’s time in Mirzapur has come to an end and the star could be moving on to other projects.
