The fifth and final instalment of the wildly popular Spanish thriller Money Heist remains one of the most speculated about series of Netflix’s upcoming catalogue. With no release date in sight just yet, an unearthed clue from the latest instalment may have revealed one of the biggest twists still to come.

A major clue from the credits of Money Heist season four may have tipped off fans to one of the show’s biggest spoilers.

The popular Spanish thriller appears to still be filming its fifth and final instalment in Madrid in time for a late 2021 release date.

With excitement for the new season reaching its peak, fans have been returning to some of their favourite episodes to try and piece together what could be in store for season five.

Money Heist fans left the audience on the edge of their seat last year with a shocking confrontation between the Professor (played by Álvaro Morte) and Alicia Sierra (Najwa Nimri).

When all hope seems lost after the death of Nairobi (Alba Flores), the disgraced police inspector surprises the criminal mastermind by holding him at gunpoint in his own hideout.

However, viewers have predicted their meeting could take a surprising turn as the series goes on.

After rewatching the season four finale in more detail, several fans have pointed out the credits for ‘The Paris Plan’ featured an alternative take on the show’s iconic signature tune, ‘Bella Ciao’.

This version of the song is actually sung by none other than Najwa Nimri, the actress behind the Professor’s current nemesis, Alicia Sierra.

One viewer noted on Reddit: “In the credits scene we hear Alicia singing ‘Bella Ciao’; you may ask why does that matter?

“Because ‘Bella Ciao’ is the song of resistance, sung by specific characters at specific moments. Plus with the government against her it makes it more probable.”

As ‘Bella Ciao’, a classic protest song, is more closely associated with the robbers’ campaign of resistance and rebellion, some viewers think this clue means Alicia will eventually switch sides to join the Professor.

After her torture of Rio (Miguel Herrán) was exposed, Alicia is already on the run from the police, and has nothing left to lose if she does decide to assist the heist.

While some fans are hesitant to forgive the ex-inspector for her crimes, her insight into the police could prove invaluable to the Professor’s escape plan.

Plus, assisting the robbers out of desperation in their time of need may not necessarily mean Alicia has become a fully-fledged member of the team.

Another fan speculated: “I don’t think Sierra will join the gang per se but will be of assistance.

“They’re both fighting the same enemy and she’s a wanted woman.”

Many viewers would be happier to see Alicia Sierra meet a sticky end, but her appearance in the season four credits hints at a much larger role for Money Heist’s final instalment.

Additionally, there’s still the matter of her heavy pregnancy, which could cause serious problems for the Professor as the heist reaches its crucial final stage.

Plus, could she have a surprising connection to Berlin (Pedro Alonso), as some fans have theorised?

All these questions and more are hoped to be answered in Money Heist’s explosive final instalment, which is hoped to drop on Netflix before the end of the year.

Money Heist seasons 1-4 are available to stream on Netflix.
