Coronation Street newcomer Curtis Delamere (Sam Retford) made quite the impression on Emma Brooker (Alexandra Mardell) when their paths crossed earlier this week.

The young man proved to be Emma’s knight in shining armour, as he assisted her in moving several heavy barrels to the store.

It was pretty much love at first sight for Emma. Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson), however, was not so keen on Curtis, as it turned out that he was the one responsible for knocking him off his bike during the charity fundraiser!

In spite of his initial reaction to Curtis, the soap legend ultimately agrees to let bygones be bygones in upcoming scenes – and even offers the dashing newcomer assistance with his job interview at the bistro!

Emma sits in on the mock interview, and Curtis’ shocking admission leaves her speechless.

‘Hopefully, I’ll be a doctor,’ he said, when asked where he’d be in five years.

‘In about five years I’ll have just qualified, and then another ten years if I want to be a consultant cardiologist.’

Emma is evidently taken aback by Curtis’ admission, but the shocks just keep on coming for the young woman.

‘I’d like to think I’d have found the love of my life by then,’ Curtis said, before looking Emma’s way.

The two characters share a moment, and the chemistry is aplenty.

Sam Retford, who made his first appearance in the ITV soap on Monday, is best known for his role in Ackley Bridge as Cory Wilson – a role he played for three years. He has also made appearances in Hollyoaks spin-off Tom’s Life, as well as in an episode of Casualty.

‘Corrie is just a wicked new experience, you can’t rank them,’ he told Metro.co.uk discussing how Coronation Street compares to what he’s done previously. ‘That’s the thing about this job, every single day it is different, every single job is completely different.

Coronation Street airs these scenes on Wednesday May 26 at 8:30pm on ITV.
