Nick Knowles breaks down in tears during DIY SOS – and begs the cameras NOT to film him | The Sun

NICK Knowles gets so emotional during his DIY SOS shows he can't stop himself from crying – and begs the cameras NOT to film him

The hit BBC series DIY SOS: The Big Build sees Nick and an army of volunteers working around the clock to help families and communities in need.

Telly fans have been in floods of tears after emotional scenes from the show -and they are not the only ones.

Nick told The Sun: "The truth is I don't stop myself from crying. The thing is I make sure I get off camera, and when they edit it together I ask them not to feature me crying.

"The reason is because otherwise I become the story, when the story is about the person I'm talking to, or at the end of the show it's about the people who have given their time up for free, and the family they have built for, and I want them to have their moment.

Speaking at the Inspiration Awards for Women at the Landmark hotel, Nick said: "I'm terrible at crying.  Even if I hold it together, I normally stop about 10 minutes down the road and have a little cry in the lay-by."

Nick Knowles admits he’s ‘off for a cry’ on DIY SOS viewers are left in tears

Just last month DIY SOS fans all had the same complaint as an emotional episode left a mum in tears.

Fans flocked to Twitter after bed-ridden mother-of-two Mandy sobbed as the community agreed to help makeover her home.

Due to her medical condition that affected her mobility, Mandy was living in one room 'unable to be a mum,' as her home was not wheelchair accessible, host Nick Knowles explained to viewers.

Telly fans were left emotional after scenes where Nick unveiled her new home complete with a lift, lower kitchen surfaces, a medical bed and an art room – which was the show's first ever build in Bangor, Northern Ireland.

Mandy, who lives with her husband, and their two children – both with medical conditions too – was inconsolable when she saw the transformation on the show where the community pitched in to help renovate her home.

She said: "This is like a hotel," when she saw her glam new bedroom.

Mandy sobbed: "This doesn't look anything like it did before.

"It's absolutely gorgeous."

She later added: "It's a new beginning for all of us."

"It changes everything. To be able to get into my house, to be able to move around in my house, it's important to be a mum and a wife again."
