Nicola Adams teases future return to Strictly Come Dancing ‘A second chance’

Strictly: Nicola Adams teases potential return to the show

Strictly Come Dancing fans have seen the competition manage to go ahead as normally as possible after a number of coronavirus precautions were put into place to protect those appearing and working on the programme. However, after Katya Jones discovered she had contracted the virus, she and celebrity partner Nicola Adams had to quit. Today, Nicola has suggested the possibility of “a second chance” after her premature exit – could she be back in 2021?

Katya and Nicola had to exit the series in early November after the former’s positive test result.

Although Katya was asymptomatic, the pair had to isolate for 14 days which meant they would have missed two weeks of the process.

Prior to the series beginning back in October, Executive Producer Sarah James had confirmed anyone who contracted the virus would not be able to continue.

But with some fans feeling as though Nicola should be given another chance in the process, the star has given her own thoughts.

Appearing on today’s edition of Morning Live with Gethin Jones and Kym Marsh, Nicola teased a possible return to the cast next year.

Talking of the coronavirus, she said: “The fact I didn’t catch it as well absolutely blew my mind

“It was really difficult because I’m a champion, I’m a fighter and I’d rather go out on my shield than be taken out by a virus.

“We had to abide by the Government rules and we want to make everybody safe, it was just so hard to deal with.”

However, she didn’t rule out the prospect of having another shot at the competition.

“But who knows, maybe I’ll get a second chance!” Nicola teased, with Katya adding: “Only with me!”

If so, it wouldn’t be the first time a celebrity has been allowed to return a year later.

Last year, Jamie Laing had to exit the competition before his first routine after sustaining a foot injury.

The Made in Chelsea star was invited to participate again and has made it all the way to the final.

So it doesn’t seem out of the question Nicola could end up making a comeback.

Luckily, Nicola and Katya will be seen on the programme once more this weekend as the show celebrates its grand finale.

They will get to perform together again as all this year’s cast will be back for their last hurrah.

Last night, fans saw Ranvir Singh and Giovanni Pernice eliminated after just missing out on a spot in the final.

Jamie will fight it out alongside Maisie Smith, HRVY and Bill Bailey to become the latest winner of the Glitterball Trophy.

It’s Bill who is on course to win, according to bookmakers Coral, who have put him at 10/11 odds.

Coral’s Harry Aitkenhead said: “We didn’t give Bill much of a chance at the start of this series of Strictly Come Dancing but he has been remarkable on the dancefloor and has such strong public support behind him now. We make him odds on to win the final and lift the Glitterball Trophy.

“HRVY’s the second favourite, and certainly has a chance, whilst Jamie at 33/1 is the rank outsider of the final and it would be a colossal shock if he were to win.”

Strictly Come Dancing: The Final airs Saturday at 6pm on BBC One.
