’Only Murders in the Building’ Season 2 Made Us Solve a Mystery to Figure Out the Release Date

Warning! There are spoilers for the Only Murders in the Building season 1 finale below. You’ve been warned!

If you’re a true-crime junkie (and really, who isn’t these days?), there’s no doubt you’ve watched Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building. Selena Gomez, Steve Martin, and Martin Short came together to create an instantly iconic TV trio while solving a murder that went down in their own apartment building. But if you know anything about true-crime stories, then you understand that ~deep secrets~ unfold the closer you get to cracking the case…which is exactly what happened at the end of season 1 of Only Murders once they ID’d Tim Kono’s killer!

Thanks to the Hulu powers that be, there’s even more of this show on the way. But when is Only Murders returning? Who killed Bunny?? And why was she wearing a tie-dye sweatshirt??? Fine, we can’t answer the last two Qs, but here’s everything we do know about when Only Murders in the Building returns for season 2.

So, is Only Murders in the Building season 2 actually happening?

That’d be a YES! The show has officially been renewed for a second round, which is a major relief considering the state we left Mabel, Charles, and Oliver in. After only a few episodes of season 1 aired, Hulu went ahead and pulled the trigger by confirming season 2 is well on the way.

Unfortunately, since season 1 just ended, it will likely be a while until Hulu delivers new episodes. Guess we’ll have to stick to our long list of true-crime podcasts to keep us going until then.

Which cast members are returning for season 2?

Let’s look to Hulu’s season 2 press release for some clues, shall we?

Only Murders in the Building reflects the kind of creative excellence that is the hallmark of Hulu Originals. Steve, John, and Dan have created a uniquely captivating and entertaining series. The audience’s response to the delightful blend of mystery, humor, and emotion in the show has been overwhelming and we can’t wait to follow this unlikely trio on their next adventure,” said Craig Erwich, president, ABC Entertainment and Hulu Originals.

Considering our fave trio was in some decidedly hot water at the end of season 1 and Hulu’s release confirms season 2 will continue following their antics, it’s pretty safe to say that Selena, Steve, and Martin will all be returning to tie up the loose ends massive plot holes.

Given that Bunny ended season 1 looking exceptionally dead on the floor of Mabel’s apartment, we’ll likely see Jane Houdyshell return in flashback form, not to mention the long line of pissed-off residents who watched our fave trio’s arrest. We’ll almost certainly also see Tina Fey’s spotlight-stealing podcaster, Cinda Canning, again too, who seems to be throwing her hat into the Arconia podcast ring.

Is anyone new joining the cast?

While they might be new to this series, a very familiar face is coming and changing things up. Deadline has reported that Cara Delevigne will be joining the cast as Alice, “a sophisticated art world insider who becomes enmeshed in the mystery.”

There’s no word yet on whether or not she will be moving into the Arconia or if she is connected to someone else, but it will definitely be interesting to see what she has up her sleeve.

When is season 2 of Only Murders in the Building coming out? When is the show returning?

It wouldn’t be a mystery show if they didn’t have us guessing to figure out when it was coming back. On March 24, the show’s official Twitter page hinted at something huge when it posted a photo of an elevator with some buttons that were clearly pressed.

It wasn’t until the next day that it was officially confirmed that it was a special teaser for the show’s release date. Thanks to a new special promo featuring our favorite podcasters, Hulu revealed that Only Murders in the Building will be back on June 28.

Well, this explains why the elevator was out of service yesterday… pic.twitter.com/gv1jqsimo0

Unfortunately, this still means we’ll have to wait a bit for it to come back. Until then, why not rewatch season 1 again for clues? After all, Mabel did say there were unanswered questions left to sleuth….
